Commissions
Commission a painting that is as individual as you are and gain a unique insight into yourself and the creation of an original work of art.

Working from my studio in Greenville, SC I use archival artist materials combining a rich palette of Sennelier oil paints with Chelsea Classical Studio walnut oil to create timeless paintings.

Prices are dependent on a number of factors including the complexity of the subject matter and the size of the canvas. I can paint from a photograph, but I'd like to see the photograph first before committing to the project.
To secure your commission a deposit of 30% of the total cost is required and the rest is payable on completion.
What does commissioning a painting look like?
From the buyer: As a Christmas present to my friend, I'd like to have a painting of a sea turtle (because she loves them!) to add to her home space that she uses as her personal sanctuary.

I created a sketch that was approved by the buyer and completed the painting on time for Christmas.
From the buyer: I'd like a series of large oil on canvas portraits to hang in our Foras na Gaeilge (the Irish Institute) offices in Dublin. These paintings will be of our six past presidents.

I traveled to each of the six past presidents homes, got to know them as best I could and photographed them in different settings. In this portrait is T.K. Whitaker, he is widely regarded as “the architect of modern Ireland” and was voted "Irishman of the 20th century" in 2001.
From the buyer: My gift to my son for his graduation from high school is a portrait of how he sees himself. A representation of how he feels heading off on his own to college. In his own words "riding a T-rex in space with Jesus, behind us is the planet Neptune."

I created several sketches for him to choose from. Once the imagery was decided, I followed with a live video chat where I directed his position to get a photograph of him looking where I could put him on top of a T-rex.
From the buyer: I'm heading back to the States after working in France for several years. I'd love a portrait of myself in a beautiful and meaningful setting before I leave.

I went to Giverny (Monet's home) with the buyer and took photos of her in many different settings. I chose the most flattering composition of her, showed her personality and a setting that she would love.
From the buyer: I want a painting as a headboard to my bed with the image of two poppies. The colors are vibrant to convey the passion and sexuality that I want to attract in my life.

I created a sketch that was approved by the buyer and completed the painting.
From the buyer: My boyfriend is turning 50, as a gift I'd like a portrait of him that is a very happy and special memory for him from years ago. To give him that feeling that all things are possible - that life is an adventure.
I worked from a specific (old and faded) photo supplied by the buyer. I enhanced the colors and extended the vista out from where he is looking.
From the buyer: My beautiful Husky recently passed away and I would love a portrait to remember her by.

I was given a few photographs to choose from by the buyer and chose the best from which to create a painting.
